Since its establishment in 1981, the continent’s foremost club basketball tournament—previously known as the FIBA Asia Champions Cup—has undergone a significant rebranding. Starting in early 2024, it will be called the Basketball Champions League Asia (BCL Asia), aligning its branding with comparable leagues in Europe and the Americas.

This inaugural season features the continent’s top eight clubs competing for the title. The competition’s lineup comprises champions from Japan’s B.League, Korea’s KBL, China’s CBA League, Indonesia’s IBL, and Malaysia, supplemented by two additional clubs representing the FIBA West Asia Super League and the host nation.
The winner of this elite contest secures a coveted spot in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.
