VIP Classical in the Studio Dubai Opera
On Sunday 27th August, the UAE will welcome Polish pianist Julia Kociuban, along with Canadian pianist Sanaz Sotoudeh, for a concert taking place at Dubai Opera, organised as part of the VIP Classical concert series which is presented by SAMIT Event Group under the auspices of the Embassy of Canada in the UAE & the Consulate General of Canada in Dubai.
Offering a vibrant programme of music, Kociuban will be starting the evening with Grażyna Bacewicz’s Piano Sonata No. 2, an intriguing twentieth-century piece composed in 1952. Next come three works from Frédéric Chopin, namely the Ballade No. 1 in G minor, followed by Mazurkas, Op. 24, No. 2 and No. 4, and finally the Andante Spianato & Grande Polonaise Brillante.
After the interval, Sotoudeh will be welcomed to the stage, opening her programme with Ferruccio Busoni’s arrangement of the Chaconne in D minor, from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin.
Ludwig van Beethoven’s hugely famous Piano Sonata No. 14, ‘Moonlight Sonata’ will follow next, after which comes Franz Liszt’s Liebesträume No. 3, the third and most popular of a set of three solo piano works published in 1850.
Liszt’s arrangement of Franz Schubert’s Ständchen, commonly translated as Serenade, shall then follow, before Sotoudeh concludes with another work from the Hungarian composer, namely the Étude en Douze Exercices No. 3.
