The Plaza
About The Plaza
The Plaza, previously known as Lamcy Plaza, is set to bring one of Dubai’s best-known community shopping destinations back to life. Located in Oud Metha, the mall is tentatively scheduled to reopen in the first half of 2027, between January and June.
Originally opened in 1997, Lamcy Plaza was one of Dubai’s popular neighbourhood malls long before many of the city’s larger shopping destinations arrived. Spread across five levels with more than 150 stores, it featured retail outlets, a hypermarket, cinemas and a food court.
The mall was also remembered for some distinctive attractions, particularly its colourful rope-climbing clown in the central atrium and its multi-level indoor waterfall.
Lamcy Plaza closed following a fire in March 2017 and remained shut for several years. The property is now under the asset management of Azure Properties and is being transformed and relaunched as The Plaza.
While work on the exterior is already signalling the mall’s return, details of The Plaza’s stores, restaurants, entertainment facilities and other tenants have not yet been announced. It is also not yet known whether familiar features such as the famous clown or waterfall will return.
The Plaza is expected to open during the first or second quarter of 2027, although an exact opening date is yet to be confirmed.
