The play unfolds in three captivating segments: “Dance from Tianshan Mountains,” “Flying along the New Silk Road,” and “Symphonic Kunlun Love.” Featuring traditional songs, dances, and the latest literary and artistic accomplishments from Xinjiang, it unveils the region’s new image, appearance, and style in the modern era. Infused with a robust Xinjiang flair, the performance paints a portrait of an open, progressive, and joyful Xinjiang.
Breaking away from the conventional electro-acoustic recording, the entire production, encompassing dance, vocal music, drama, and epic chants, is accompanied by a live band. This unprecedented fusion of multiple art forms showcases the original expression and robust artistic prowess of Xinjiang’s songs, dances, and music. Established in 1949, the Xinjiang Art Theater Song and Dance Troupe (formerly known as Xinjiang Song and Dance Troupe) boasts a diverse ensemble representing multiple ethnic groups, including Uygur, Han, Hui, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Tajik, Mongolia, Manchu, and Xibe. Recognized as Xinjiang’s premier art performance troupe, it has garnered over 200 awards in major Chinese and international cultural and artistic events.
Highlighting their excellence, large-scale folk dances such as “Happy Songs from Tianshan Mountains,” “Sunny Xinjiang,” and “Beautiful Xinjiang,” along with the musical “Warming Tianshan Mountains” and the song-and-dance drama “Forever Meshrep,” have clinched prestigious accolades, including the National Best Works Award, Gold Award for National Ethnic Minority Drama, and the Lotus Prize in the National Dance Competition. The troupe has showcased its talents in over 90 countries and regions, earning admiration for China and contributing significantly to cultural diplomacy.
