Ramadan Souq Returns: Deira’s Historic Markets Come Alive

The ‘Ramadan Souq’ is set to commence on Saturday, February 17, at the historic Old Municipality Street in Deira, organized by Dubai Municipality to mark the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. It will continue until March 9, operating daily from 10am to 10pm. This traditional event aims to provide shoppers with essential items and gadgets for Ramadan preparations, including personal and household essentials, special products for celebrating ‘Hag Al Laila,’ as well as various events, live entertainment shows, and activities for children.

Dubai Municipality emphasized that the ‘Ramadan Souq’ not only supports tourism and commercial activities but also serves to showcase traditional markets and preserve the heritage and authenticity of customs associated with Ramadan preparations. Deira’s historical markets, such as the Grand Souq (Al Dhalam Souq), Plates Market, men’s fabrics market, Souq Al Manazer, Al-Matarih Market, food market, marine tools market, Souq Al Khilak, perfume market, and the gold market, play a significant role in this regard. These markets have been restored, rehabilitated, and classified based on their types, maintaining their historical significance as traditional commercial hubs dating back to the 19th century.
